Basements in Pittsburgh

Moisture-first basement finishing — code-compliant, built to last.

Our Approach

How we think about basements.

A finished basement is only as good as the foundation you build it on. We address water before we frame a single wall — sump systems, interior drainage, vapor barriers, and proper insulation details that prevent condensation behind drywall.

Ranges shown are planning numbers — not quotes. The actual number for your home depends on what we find behind the walls, your specific selections, and the geometry of the existing space. The conversation starts with a 30-minute walk-through.

Frequently Asked

Questions we hear
every week.

My basement has always been damp. Can you still finish it?+
Usually — but not before we fix the moisture. We’ll spend the first week identifying sources (hydrostatic pressure, condensation, efflorescence, grading) and remediate before any framing goes up.
Do I need an egress window for a bedroom?+
Yes, by code. Bedrooms require a window meeting minimum opening dimensions and a window well to grade. We handle the excavation, window installation, and well drainage as a single coordinated scope.
What about ceiling height?+
Pittsburgh code requires 7’ minimum finished ceiling height for habitable space. If your basement is under 7’, we can sometimes recess mechanical runs or lower the slab — we’ll measure at the first walk-through.
How do you handle HVAC and egress for finished basements?+
Supply and return registers are sized to the new finished space, and we coordinate with your existing system or add a dedicated mini-split. Egress is code and we treat it that way — no exceptions.
