A 1970s split-level in Whitehall with a kitchen that had never been touched. The clients wanted playful — patterned tile, warm cabinetry, a kitchen that started conversations.
The Ask
Keep the layout, gut everything else. A statement backsplash. A gas range worth cooking on. Enough counter space to actually bake with the kids.
The Design
Warm oak cabinetry with a hand-rubbed finish. Geometric cement-look backsplash in ochre and cream with a custom gold inlay detail set into the field — a one-off touch the homeowner specifically asked for. Polished chrome fixtures, quartz counters with a soft vein, and an undermount sink that keeps the counter line clean.
The Build
Five weeks. Electrical panel upgraded to 200 amp to handle the new range and dishwasher. Flooring transitioned at the threshold without any saddle — just a continuous engineered hardwood that runs into the dining room.
The moment it came together.

Details, from every angle.

“A 1970s Whitehall split given a kitchen the original architect would have built if they had the materials we have today. Warm oak cabinetry, a playful patterned backsplash with a custom gold inlay detail set into the field — a one-off touch you won't find in another kitchen. A room that finally fits how the family lives in it.”
