A spa-quality primary bath for a young family who wanted somewhere to exhale at the end of the day. The existing bath was original to the 1990s build — dated fixtures, a cramped corner tub, and a layout that wasted every inch.
The Ask
A freestanding tub. A proper standing shower with a rain head. Matte black fixtures throughout. Storage — enough for two people who actually live in this room. And clean sightlines from the door.
The Design
A sculptural freestanding tub sits under the existing window, deliberately positioned so the view from the doorway is the bath, not the toilet. Matte black floor-mount tub filler. Porcelain tile across the whole room for seamless waterproofing. A single-sink vanity with quartz top — because two mirrors in a room this size would feel cluttered.
The Build
Five weeks. Every supply line re-run. Subfloor reinforced where the freestanding tub sits — cast iron is heavier than it looks. Vapor barrier and Schluter waterproofing under the tile, tested to a 48-hour flood standard before any finish work went in.

Details, from every angle.

“A spa-quality primary bath inside the original footprint — same square footage, twice the room. The freestanding tub anchors the space; matte black fixtures keep it modern; the storage finally fits the way two people actually live in this room.”
