Residential Interior Designer

Pittsburgh, PAFull-time · Part-time$40K–$50K / year

Residential interior designer to translate client vision into beautiful, livable spaces. Concept through completion, working alongside ICR's project managers and the client.

The role

We're looking for a passionate, talented designer to lead residential interior projects from kickoff to handoff. You'll meet directly with homeowners, develop concepts, prepare presentations, draft construction documents, coordinate with vendors and trades, and oversee installation. Your work shapes how our clients live in their homes for the next 10–20 years — we want someone who takes that seriously and brings craft and creativity to every detail.

What you’ll do

  • Meet with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and project goals — establishing clear design direction.
  • Develop interior design concepts using SketchUp, AutoCAD, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite to visualize ideas effectively.
  • Prepare presentations including mood boards, color palettes, lighting plans, and material selections.
  • Create drafting and construction documents using CAD software (Bluebeam, Rhinoceros 3D, 3ds Max) for precise specifications.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to select furnishings, fixtures, lighting, and finishes that align with the design vision.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets while ensuring quality standards are met throughout renovation.
  • Oversee on-site installation to ensure designs are executed accurately and to the client's satisfaction.
  • Stay current with trends in interior design, lighting, color theory, and construction techniques.
  • Draft contracts and scope-of-work documents that clearly outline deliverables and responsibilities.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience as a residential interior designer or in a similar role within the design-build or remodeling industry.
  • Strong proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe Photoshop, Rhinoceros 3D, 3ds Max, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of interior design principles — color theory, lighting design, space planning, material selection.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously from concept through construction completion.
  • Familiarity with contracts, budgeting, renovation procedures, construction coordination, and lighting selection.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to keep a positive attitude under tight deadlines.

Benefits

  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Paid time off
